BACK TO SCHOOL 2024 INFORMATION


Below is a brief summary of commonly asked questions.

 

When is the first day of school?

Elementary:

The first day of school will be Monday, August 19, 2024. All grades 1 - 6 students will report to school in the morning at the regularly scheduled time. The schedule for the day will be an EARLY DISMISSAL.

 

Tuesday, August 20 will also be an EARLY DISMISSAL.


Kindergarten students will have a “Meet-and-Greet” session with their teacher during Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, August 15 or during the school day hours on Monday, August 19 or Tuesday, August 20. Please call your student’s elementary school on/after Wednesday, August 7 to schedule an appointment for one of these days set aside for a “Meet and Greet.”


Junior High:

Monday, August 19 and Tuesday, August 20, 2024 - 7th grade students will report to school for orientation activities and will have an EARLY DISMISSAL each day. 


8th  grade students will complete activities remotely and should not report to school on these days. Classroom teachers will send an introductory email to students and parents.


All students will be expected to log on in the afternoons from home for virtual classes on the 19th and 20th. 


All students (7th and 8th grade) will report to school Wednesday morning August 21, 2024 for a full day of instruction.

 

Senior High:

Monday, August 19 and Tuesday, August 20, 2024 - 9th grade students and students in 10th, 11th, & 12th grade who are new to the district will report to school for orientation activities and will have an EARLY DISMISSAL each day. 


Returning 10th, 11th, & 12th grade students will complete asynchronous activities remotely and should not report to school on these days.  Classroom teachers will send an introductory email to students and parents that will explain expectations for the day.  Students need to complete asynchronous assignments in all scheduled classes in order to be marked present for the day.


 ALL students will begin full-day instruction on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

 


When will I receive information regarding my child's teacher and class schedule?

 

Classroom assignments for elementary schools and schedules for the junior & senior high schools will be posted to Student and Family Access on Skyward on Friday, August 9, 2024.

  • Elementary - 10:00 AM
  • JH - 12:00 PM
  • SH - 4:00 PM

How can I be sure I will have access to information available in Skyward and receive updates throughout the year?


The Student Information Verification process will open on August 1st and can be completed using a web browser. This process CANNOT be completed directly within the Skyward mobile app. Go to http://sisportal.rlasd.net in any browser on a laptop/mobile device (tablet or phone) or by selecting “Open in Browser” in the Skyward mobile app. You can also go to www.rlasd.net and click Parent Portal at the bottom of the screen to be directed to the login screen.


EVERY family should complete this process prior to August 9 when student schedules/homerooms/bus information is available. It is important to update contact information, including email addresses and phone numbers in order to receive up to date information, including notifications about emergencies, school closures, etc. 


Questions should be directed to the main office of your child’s school.

 

 

When is Meet the Teacher Night?

All Meet the Teacher Night activities will be held in person.

 

All Elementary schools

Grades K-6 - Thursday, August 15, 2023 - 6:00 - 8:00 pm

 


Red Lion Area Junior High


Meet the Teacher Night is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 5:30-8:30  p.m. and will be split by grade level due to parking restrictions. Parents/ guardians will follow their student’s schedules. Please see the schedule below.


Grade 7

5:30 – 5:40 PM Period 1 6:09 – 6:19 PM Period 4

5:43 – 5:53 PM Period 2 6:22– 6:32 PM Period 5

5:56 – 6:06 PM Period 3 6:35 – 6:45 PM Period 6


Break 6:45-7:15 pm (Cafeteria available for parents with both 7th & 8th graders)


Grade 8

Red Lion Area Senior High

Meet the Teacher Night will take place on Thursday, August 22, 2024 for Grades 9-12 from 

6:00 pm -8:00 pm.  We will meet in the auditorium at 6:00 pm for a brief introduction to the school and parents will follow their student’s schedule according to the following schedule:

Introduction 6:00 – 6:10

Period 1 6:15 – 6:27

Period 2 6:31 – 6:43

Period 3 6:46 – 6:58

Period 5 7:02 – 7:14

Period 6 7:17 – 7:29

Period 7 7:32 – 7:44

Period 8 7:47 – 8:00


We will be following a DAY 4 schedule.

How much does breakfast or lunch cost?

Breakfast (all levels) - Free

Elementary Lunch $2.50

Secondary Lunch $2.80

Reduced Lunch - All students approved for reduced price lunches will receive free lunch

 

A la cart milk  $0.50

 

Students who qualify will receive a free or reduced lunch and breakfast based upon their family’s household income.

What time do students have to be at school?  What time are students dismissed?

Elementary (Kindergarten - Grade 6)

9:00 am - 3:20 pm


Junior High

7:37 am - 2:32 pm

 

Senior High

Doors open at 7:15 am

School Day:  7:38 am - 2:40 pm -

Dismissal: 2:40 pm - first bus wave - only students on the first bus wave will be dismissed

approximately 2:50 pm - second bus wave, walkers, riders, and drivers

 

How do I know what bus my child rides?  When does the bus pick up? drop off?

 

All bus assignments will be available on the Skyward Family Access portal on August 9, 2024

What school supplies does my child need?

 

The Red Lion Area School District provides the necessary consumable supplies (paper, pencils, markers, etc.) and a computing device for all of our students each year.  Students may, as desired, bring their own personal supplies to school.
